It is not the things in the picture that are resting but is their Master. It is not what you can see that is important but the invisible things. There is no idleness loneliness or escapism since the colors are very bright depicting a heart filled with bliss. We usually think of a resting place as being very comfortable soft and peaceful. However, as Supreme Master Ching Hai’s working conditions are rather special She has to rest even on the rock when there is time. Furthermore, the rocks are symbolic of hardness while the water represents flexibility so both the yin (negative) and yang (positive) aspects are present. Nonetheless, all of these visible things are only symbols. It is the unseen Master who is most important.
