Life is always afflux in one of the four states of existence: formation, being, disintegration, and non-being, much like human beings are always going through birth, aging, sickness, and death. Just as the painting reveals, the daisy may sprout forth young shoots, produce new blossoms, but will also shed leaves and lose petals when the time comes. This world, like the flower, is ever-changing, ever ephemeral.
